Love the Way You Are Chinese Drama Review

“Love the Way You Are” can be described as a show that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Love the Way You Are is one of those shows that will have you smiling like an idiot for the entire duration of the season. There was not a moment while watching where I felt bored or disinterested in the plot.

Synopsis of Love the Way You Are

Love the Way You Are tells the story of Yin Yi who seems to have a perfect life and her childhood partner Xu Guang Xi. Yin Yi Ke is a 32-year-old young woman who has always been responsible at home and at the workplace. She is the perfect daughter who takes care of her parents and takes care of her employees at work. She is always concerned about everyone else’s happiness but oftentimes is not concerned with her own.

Luckily, this all changes when she meets Xu Guang Xi who she interacted with as a child. After returning from his studies overseas, Xu Guang Xi, who had previously only felt a sense of dependency toward Yi Ke, has now developed feelings for her. However, pursuing Yi Ke is a very challenging task. It involves a fast-paced lifestyle and intense pressure.

What did I like about the C-drama “Love the Way You Are”?

I like that the show incorporated issues relevant to modern society. Issues such as self-love & self-worth especially as it relates to relationships with others. It also showcased that overly-ambitious people can be selfish and this selfish nature can ruin relationships. Money and gifts can supplement a relationship but it cannot replace the love and care that a person is supposed to give to their partner. The show also demonstrates how communication is key in all relationships, especially parent-child relationships. Sometimes parents have their own ideas of how they want their children’s lives to be and who they should date but that does not mean it is the best circumstance for their child. In fact, it may be the worst circumstance. I’m happy that the show placed emphasis on living for yourself and not doing or being what others want or expect you to be.

Love the Way You Are also incorporated the controversial age gap that a lot of couples deal with in reality. It was refreshing to see that a young man was more responsible than an older guy proving that older does not necessarily mean more reliable, mature or considerate. I particularly like that the stigma of an older woman dating a younger man was eventually overcome and accepted.

Additionally, I liked the second lead couple Chen Ye & Qin Yi Ran. Although the audience could not predict the outcome of this relationship, the natural progression was beautiful to see. I like that this couple always supported each other even when they were not an official couple yet. They really took a chance on love despite both being broken because of past circumstances and trust issues.

To conclude, I would recommend that everyone watches this series at least five times.
